The word is spreading like a bad cold with a vengeance. The Nikon D40 is said to be announced soon, but who really knows? I suppose Nikon and a couple of other people working there do know. But with rumors abound, is it Fact or Fiction? We’ll see soon enough, or maybe not at all.

- Sensor: 6 MP - same as D50, D70 and D70s. Standard Nikon DX size: 23.7 x 15.6 mm.
- Suspected Price: $499 MSRP, body only ($599 with new G-II version of the 18-55mm)

- Frame Rate: 2.5 FPS.

If nikon is announcing this new D40, they sure now how to make a buzz, a plausible deniable buzz. But it is always worth mentioning, if it is announced on November the 16, 2006 as rumored.
